Had a phone call from the hospital to say to be there at 3.00pm on Wednesday and make sure I shower/bath with the anti-bacterial stuff. Got two sponges in the chemist.
Off to the Indian for a meal. Dear me

Showered in smelly stuff, had breakfast (before 8.30) the following morning then showered again in the smelly stuff. By which time, I smell like a walking antiseptic lolly

Phone call from the hospital at 2.20. Can you come now

Grumpy came up with me - my own en-suite room - he then left and we did all the normal questions. Waited for about an hour, then got wheeled off. Saw the surgeon, had a lovely nurse holding my hand and I was back in my room a couple of hours later.
Not sore, on a pain killer of a drip. Fussed over, and after a pof hours, was offered the infamous Portuguese orange tea. It's dire. You have never had anything like it - ever

Surgeon saw me at 6.50 the next morning, said I would be going home later today.
So by midday, I was out and strolling down to the hotel.
And amazingly. the taxi turned up this morning at 5.00, so we got the very early train and got back here at 12.45.
It's about a four inch scar, but he's done it on previous cuts and is a very tidy job. I have to go to the centro de saude tomorrow morning, with the normal letter, for them to have a look-see.
And I will say that it was the best hospital I've been to in Portugal. Yes, I know it was private (although I wasn't paying) and a new ish one, but the level of care of outstanding.
even if it is a mammoth trek.
