Have you had the Emergency Alert on your mobile phone this evening?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... es-in.html

Three million people across parts of southwest England and Wales have now been sent an emergency alert at 6.45pm.
The alert was issued to millions of Brits in both Welsh and English, with guidance on how to stay safe in light of the perilous weather tomorrow.
This will be the largest use of the system outside a test scenario with the last test being in April 2023.
Mobile phones are anticipated to make a loud siren-like sound even if they are set on silent, with the sound and vibration set to last for around 10 seconds.

I could have done without the blaring sirens. Fair frightened the fevvers off the bird! :o

When reading round some weather reports - BBC, Sky, ITN and weather websites it really could be a nightmare with winds up to 90MPH and rain of 90mm or more falling on already sodden ground.

A warning could well save lives in the Red zone.

That's interesting, Jo ....... we are not actually in the Red area here; in fact we're just on the edge of the Amber - but we still got the Red Warning alert.

All I can say is it was pretty effective! :)

Edit to say Master O has just arrived here from Worthing after a horrendous car journey and he got it too!

Nothing here as yet, Jo's probably right, it's a regional thing.

Turned that off on our phones.
Bad enough when they test the nuclear siren in Portsmouth harbour every 3 months, one day it might be for real
