At least not until this evening around 9 PM sometime. The temperature shot up from about 13“C to almost 20“C in no time at all and then we got BOOM! BOOM! That was the thunder and sheet lightning but not a drop of rain or hail and hardly any wind.

It has gone quiet again but the sky is a flat grey and one or two of the street lights have decided to switch on. Autumn is kicking in with a vengeance.

We are now losing 4 1/2 minutes of daylight every day and by Wednesday twilight will start at 5 PM. then the nights will just keep drawing in.

We were over at Tom’s just outside of Burton Upon Trent and it was bad, we had to pass through a few flooded roads to get there.
I read that there’d been a huge lightning strike in Stafford on Saturday evening which had knocked out power in part of the town and I checked our security camera to see what it was like at home, saw the usual flashes but then there was a huge one which lit the whole sky up so that must’ve been the one I’d read about.

Last night, once home, we had a power cut for nearly an hour.
