Air Fryer

Can't remember if I've asked this before. Has anyone got an air fryer, what make and are they worth having?

Thinking of buying the Ninja 5.2ltr model, but don't want to waste my money if they are mainly used for chips as we rarely have them. Need a good size as I'm hoping to cut a considerable amount of electricity when cooking a whole chicken, jacket potatoes etc.

Saw one recently on one of the shopping channels. The details had gone off before I could write the details down.And I was in the middle of cooking
my evening meal and never got back to view it again. Had other taks I wanted to do and forgot all about it. Seemed to be very good and not
expensive to use.

I don't want a big one as I am only cooking for myelf.

On this morning programe. Last week it was a bit about them they sound interesting apparently B/M store had reduced one to £25-00 might get one
I do have a round halogen oven thing that I used a few times but it's now at the back of the cupboard obsolete

The jury is out.

It does a full 3.5lb chicken or a 10" pizza and if you can find another 30cm baking tray you can do roast veg under another dish. It's a bit like a cross between a normal sized fan oven and an air fryer. Would work for a couple or a small family.

I’ve got a Vortex, think I paid around £100 for it two years ago and it’s been used daily since, and not just once daily.

You definitely need a large capacity if you want to cook a chicken.

I even ‘boil’ eggs (obviously without water) in mine.
Amanda came here straight from work on Saturday night and I cooked a frozen pizza for her. I don’t even bother heating mine up before adding food as it’s only a matter of a few minutes and the pizza was cooked and the cheese was golden brown on top in 7 minutes. It would’ve taken longer than that to heat up the main oven to cook it.

Mine is a Tower, cheap and cheerful it was about 50 quid. Cooks chips beautifully with no fat, but it will also cook a whole chicken

I was very tempted too Jen, Ninja had a good offer for NHS staff but Tim didnt want one, takes up too much space he said.

He's now decided in view of fuel costs he'd like one but the offer has finished

Kaz, when you say cooks chips beautifully with no fat, do you mean proper chips or oven chips?

Proper chips. You can spray them lightly with fat such as Frylite, but I have made them without.
