Not such a good weekend

Postby Suff » 17 Jul 2022, 23:08

I was at the Fete National (Bastille day), celebrations and broke my diet to have a melon starter, a steak and a few chips. I was drinking bottled water and a couple of tins of perrier.

By Friday Lunch I was in agony and feeling really unwell, stomach really upset and the runs. Then I took an immodium. Big mistake, close to instant emetic. I only realised this later at 4am when I had dragged myself out of bed to soak my bad knee in the hot tub. The hot chlorinated air was setting my stomach off. More emetic. I did, however, after this, get back to sleep. But. I was leaving for Calais at lunch time to I had to get up at 07:30 and start packing my car then doing all the final jobs Mrs S needed done before I left.

I think I've narrowed the culprit down to the fact that Firemen had all the bottles and cans in a large container of water and ice. I have no idea where the water came from, but it was not possible to get it all off the two can's of perrier I drank. Local well water does this to me which is why I don't touch any water outside unless it comes from a bottle or a can.

I got on the road yesterday morning and realised my mother had been trying to phone me. I called back and found out that my Aunt, recently diagnosed with Dementia, had fallen out of bed and died that morning.

Not a weekend to be remembered. At least I'm starting to feel better. Need to mail my Uncle but he's asked that we don't hassle him right now. Time to think about what I say.

I hope everyone had a Much better weekend than mine.

Not me.

I have had the norovirus for a week now, and it's not good. Imodium is apparently the last thing to take, according to the pharmacist. Drinks and soups and porridge are the way to go, according to her. Seems to work for me.

WM, I hope it resolves itself for you, being sick is no damned fun and I haven't been like this in over 20 years. Reminds me why I don't get drunk. Seems I'm coming out the other end of this now but thanks for the advice you shared.

Thanks everyone for the wishes. It does help. My aunt was still at that stage of having good days and bad. When I visited the last time I was over she was bad. When Mrs S visited just 3 weeks ago she was really good. We're going to remember her like that. Autopsy then a funeral.

Need to focus on my Uncle now. He's in pain.
