Good morning Thursday

Postby Ally » 30 Jun 2022, 07:05

Good morning.

Scorchio.

All packed and good to go.

Leaving the house at 12.30. Flight not till 3.30 but I'd rather be too early than get caught up in queues and panic.

Have a great day.

Morning Ally, morning everyone

Sunny but blowing an absolute hooley, so feeling rather cold

Safe journey Ally, hope all goes as planned xx

Panic stations here earlier. Couldn't find my phone. Not nowhere, not down the sides of the sofa, not on the bedside cabinet, not in the fridge (always look, just in case  ) not in my bag, not fallen out where I keep my bag, not in the car.

So gave that up and went to do the watering. Got soaked, using the hosepipe and the wind changed direction   But my trousers and feet were soon dry (if a little cold) in the wind.

Put the kettle on, started searching again, Grumpy went to the car, I looked outside, as we'd sat out there before the bbq yesterday. Nope. Went to get the mugs for coffee, and there it was, tucked up against the back splash - the black worktop and black back splash hid the black phone

No idea what we're going to do today, I had planned on cutting back the ice plant and other things which are getting a little out of hand, but I'm not going out in that wind. Not unless I'm wearing socks, jumper, fleece

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning you two, morning everyone

Safe travels Ally. I'm same as you - I always get to airports too early so I don't have to worry about queues etc
Jan, hope it warms up for you; really odd weather :(

Well another day in the office for me, and today I will officially declare myself as tired    early starts every morning and a late night last night (after work drinks) and another late one tonight (meeting up with friends not seen in absolute ages); sigh. I'm already looking forward to Saturday morning where I can have a bit of a lie in; or rather get up early to feed cats and chickens and then back to bed to snooze ;-)

Overcast today and rain expected. I'm not complaining; the garden and allotment are happy and I don't have to water - win win

Have a lovely day everyone x

Morning all, it’s dull here after a beautiful start.

Had a lovely walk with Bill first thing, and once I’ve dried my hair we’ll walk across the village to post a birthday card.

We went to see the Elvis film last night. If Austin Butler doesn’t get at least an Oscar nomination for his performance there’s something very wrong. I admit that I knew nothing about Elvis apart from some songs, that he lived in Graceland, was married to Priscilla and his daughter is Lisa Marie but I came out of the Odeon feeling so sad for him. There was an actual clip of Elvis performing Unchained Melody in Vegas not long before he died and he looked so unwell and it was heartbreaking to see, but despite how obviously unwell he was his voice was absolute perfection.
The man on the door checking tickets at the Odeon made me laugh, he scanned John’s and said “Elvis. One for the money” and then scanned mine and said “Two for the show”. He’s probably saying it to everyone who walks through the door to see the film but it properly amused me

Safe travels Al!

Have a good day all :)

Morning all, it’s cloudy with a little sun out there. Bed early last night, slept like the dead and could still sleep more. We are going to dance practice this morning then back to collect Kellie from Miss Osc - they finish school today for the summer, and it’s 12.00 pick-up time so we wouldn’t be back. Michael is going out with his friends for pizza and will come here afterwards. We’ll take them out for something to eat to celebrate the start of the holidays and Michael’s last ever day in primary school. We had a lovely time at the golf yesterday, the forecast rain didn’t materialise, temperatures were very pleasant and all driving went well.

Jo, I’m glad you enjoyed the movie. The colonel was a thoroughly horrible man who only saw Elvis as a money machine and never realised his full potential. Elvis was not able to stand up to him, his mother was dead and his father was very weak. We’ve been to Graceland, and they recreated the house perfectly. It is a surprisingly modest home compared to the ugly mansions so many of today’s so-called stars have. After he died, his estate has gone on to make far more money than he ever did when he was alive. His grave at Graceland is at the back of the house and is very quiet and peaceful - I’m sad enough to have picked up a leaf from the ground which I still have today. We were there in 2010.

Morning all :D

Dull and overcast and we've just had a shower, think it will be more of the same for the rest of the day.

I agree Jo, Austin Butler was amazing and definitely should get an Oscar nomination, we'd actually like to see him win. Tom Hanks as Colonel Parker was also brilliant, he said playing such a nasty individual had been something completely new for him. At the end of the film when they showed original clips, many of which we'd seen, I cried. Ed was choked up too. Such a wonderful voice and talent lost, so sad.

I'd love to visit Gracelands Osc, I was such a fan I'd probably have done the same as you and picked up a leaf to keep.

Shopping day for us, we're off to Westwood Cross, need bits from Boots and M&S. Looking outside we'll probably need our raincoats.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Good afternoon.
Safe travels Ally. Well done finding the phone Jan.
Slept badly last night.
Eliza is here. They have had an Olympic athlete at nursery this morning, helping them to exercise. Hopefully he'll have tired them out!
We have hidden a couple of things in the garden and drawn a treasure map for Eliza, we will do the search soon.
We need to catch the fish man today but you never know when he's going to turn up.
Have a good day all.
