I have several watches which are all battery operated with hands that go round to tell the time.
Have not got one of the new all singing/dancing watches so cannot offer any advice

Fitbit are very popular round here, but Z&M both have Apple watches and love them. Mind you they are Apple fanatics  Best thing is to try both on, depends what feel better.

I've had plastic-strap Casio digital watches for years! Cool stop-watch function for the soccer .... :geek:

I think the latest one cost me £9.95 from Argos in Warminster.

I have one Shell, I’ve had it around a year now and love it! I find the software a lot less glitchy than Fitbit for a start and the battery life is much better. Plus my wrist would itch quite often when wearing the Fitbit whereas I’ve not had a problem with this.

I like the ease of seeing all of the fitness details, both on the watch and on my phone, but also love it as a device.

Ok Jo, perfect so can I run this by you

I am interested now I dont have a car park to hop across and there are so many stairs at my new place how many steps I do on an average day. My phone counts my steps on a walk, but not when it is sitting by my bed or on my desk at work. So I fancied a fit bit. I am pretty sure after a week or two I will realise I do pretty much the same amount of steps each day, and lose interest, so far so £80 fit bit.

Apparently it can record my sleep, but I dont want to wear it in bed. That did interest me with my fit bit, but it annoyed me too much to wear and it was really slim and little.

Apparently it alerts me if I sit for too long. The only time I sit is either when I am at work, working, so not much I can do about that, or if I have coffee with a friend and to say 'oh sorry I need to stand and walk' seems a bit rude.

But in the Apple shop, lady assistant and Mr 'Apple all the way' Tim are telling me otherwise. It can do an ECG, record your heart rate, do loads of things for your health, but I am not interested. It can even tell you if you are at risk of a fall, I've got to nearly 60 never falling.

It receives texts and calls, so you dont need to keep getting your phone out when you are walking. I have a Luke alert on my phone, apart from him I am not interested in answering texts or calls when I am walking they can wait. But some times I do look and that takes me to the point, I think I am too attached to my phone anyway, I want to wean myself off. So having something more accessible won't help.

Then there is the watch itself. I have tiny wrists the face covers my whole wrist. I have to have the strap tight (size 3) or it sits above my wrist bone so won't record my vital signs properly. I think I will find it hot, annoying and it feels so heavy. I actually feel like I have been tagged.

Of note, I wore it so seldom it took 6 months for me to realise I had lost my fit bit

Apparently I can use all the apps I use on my phone including photos. I dont use any apps of my phone and why would I want to look at photos on a screen that is 2ins x 2ins?
So is there honestly any point Jo? What do you love so much about yours?
