Is wonderful when it's working.
Yesterday while waiting for her indoors at the dentist, next door to a Sainsbury's,I though right in the cafe for a snack and a coffee and wifi.

Nah cafe closed Wi-Fi not working,so over to Costa I went, coffee Wi-Fi not working.

Must be a black spot I thought until I looked around and there was a mobile mast about 50 m away.

Wasn't only me that couldn't get a signal

I had similar with an on line holiday booking. My details were on my on line "customer account " according to an email.
Onto the company's website, orly to discover that despite booking two holidays through them I didn't have a customer account.
After two phone calls and repeated visits to the website it got sorted, but what a performance.
It took time for the old blood pressure to get back to normal!

LOL, Vic, I had a very similar experience to you many years ago now - well over 25, in fact.

I bought a PAYG Ericsson brick (remember them?), ready to go, from the local Spar shop. Took it back over the road to the office, no signal.
Left it an hour or so, no signal.
At lunchtime, took it outside, no signal.
Got into the car, drove half-way up the hill on the Rampisham road to a layby, no signal.
Thought "Bloody heck" and drove a further mile on and parked right under the mega Rampisham mobile transmitter. No signal.
I'll have to take it back to the Spar.
Went back to the office after lunch.
That afternoon, had to phone head office in nearby Bridport over something, and mentioned my problem in passing to the lass on reception.
"Oh yeah, that transmitter's been down all day!"

    :P :D

Vic, just because you see a mast does not mean it is your mast. There are 4 companies (I think) that put out mast infrastructure but if it is not your company mast you cannot roam onto it.

It is different abroad where you can roam to most if not all masts because you are already roaming.

If you live in North Scotland or the wilds of England it is important to check the mobile phone coverage before taking a contract.

But to the original point, we have become used to universal WiFi coverage in some places, when it doesn't work everything online we use becomes unavailable.

People in my family don't seem to understand why I have locally stored music and don't just use a streaming service.

But they don't fly much, or far...
