Good morning Wednesday

Postby Ally » 24 Apr 2013, 06:24

Good morning :D

'Tis rather gorgeous here. 8-) 8-)

Today mum, dad, Don, Ed and myself are off to Nerja for the day. :D

We're then going to take mum and dad back to their place as Ed wants to see their holiday apartment and the gardens.

We're going to a chiringuito for sardines then back home and down to Paco's for the Madrid game tonight. :D :D

Enjoy the day everyone.

Morning all. It's lovely here too.

Work for me until around 2pm and then home to feed and walk the dog before I head off to school for my usual weekly meeting with the head.

Very exciting today as we have money in our budget for more staff. We will be looking for a one day a week person to concentrate on the SEN children - we are hoping that we might pick up an educational psychologist as another local school recently did. We are also taking on a full time teacher (probably newly qualified) in the juniors for a year or two. We were only able to afford part time but the local authority last week confirmed that the government were giving schools an extra £8k a year (plus £5 per child) to go towards PE. So we decided we could put that towards a teacher - they can teach PE across the school and co-ordinate events. It does mean that we won't be in good books with the sports cluster for our school as they were hoping that all the small schools would put their money into one pot to go towards their events but that doesn't benefit us at all and when it boils down to it, what is important is our school! So this afternoon is going to be spent writing adverts.

They are doing that in lots of areas Saundra. It doesn't appear to have reached Derbyshire yet but we know it will be coming.

We have another small really close to us and we are worried that one day they will try to merge the two into one. They have the larger building but we have the better grounds with more chance of building on it. We also have decent car parking for parents to drop off their children whereas they are right on a main road.

They are also a school who don't manage their budget well (we know this as they were the one that we almost shared a head with when our head was going to leave) - they have half the number of children we have but double the number of staff.

So we are pretty confident that if it happened we would be the school that survived.

Hi Saundra! Saw your post yesterday - it is LOVELY to have you back! What did I hear about a kindle? are you using on of those newer ones to post now? Anyway you have been missed :D :D :D

Morning everyone - Ally that sounds like a fun day :D

Debih that sounds like great news for the SEN children and for the school in general 8-)

It's dull and gloomy looking here today  Oh well. I still need to go out in it, I have a parcel to post at the main PO in town and I need a memory card for my new camera as I want to take it on holiday with me. The holiday starts a week today - well that's when we leave for our stay and park hotel at Gatwick, we fly out very early on the Thursday 8-) :D :D I'm getting very excited :D

We are having work done here today and tomorrow - the front of the house gravelling over. The guy who is doing it regularly does work for my MIL so we know he's reliable and he's given us a very good price for taking up the turf, levelling, putting a membrane down and then gravelling it all. Some of the other houses here have it done and it looks very smart. We decided to get it done as the grass is full of dandelions which take ages to dig out and treat and it's also quite hard to cut it on the slope and round the iron railings......... 8-)

Have a good day everyone xxx

Morning :)
Really dull here, such a shame after yesterday's beautiful sunshine. I feel about the same lol, having had a good few nights of interrupted sleep and getting up really early, finally I slept well and got up late but now feel all foggy :D
Hopefully a shower will sort me out ;)

Debih that's really good news about your school/staff, didn't you lose your assistants last year?
Ally your day sounds good, and Kaz I've been watching your ticker :D

Saundra I hope you're reading us :D You can switch off the 'predictive text' that has made you call Debih Dennis, if you can find where it is :)
Also, in Sainsburys yesterday on the magazine stand was a publication called 'How to get the most from your Kindle Fire', or something, all about how to get started, etc, I thought of you it would be perfect :)
Hope everyone has a good day
