A personal thing....

Postby Workingman » 27 Nov 2021, 22:56

I was a blues beat, rock steady, ska, soul, reggae sort of guy: then I heard the Beach Boys. I was totally hooked. It was mad, here was this black music fan suddenly in love with the California sound.

I have every Beach Boys LP and all the tracks via YouTube, and I wont let them go. Great Movie: Love & Mercy.

But the film is a sad story of a genius going through a mental breakdown - Brian Wilson. C4, Love ang Mercy. I have just watched the film of his life. This film hurt my memories of a genius. It was enlightening and disturbing in equal measure. At the time I never knew what he was going through.

Listen to this the best song ever. that's Brian. So is darlin.

I’ll look out for that Frank.

I was going to suggest that if any of you can get the free trial of the Disney+ streaming service there’s an outstanding 3 part Beatles documentary - The Beatles:Get Back - about the making of the Let It Be album.
Even if you can’t get a free trial it’s worth paying a month’s subscription just for this.

We watched the Queen and Freddie Mercury story last night.

Poor man, such a mess, as well as George Michael.

I’ve been a Beach Boys fan since the 60s, Brian Wilson had such a sad life, but seemed to come through in the end. We really want to see the Beatles documentary - Miss Osc has Disney+ so we will try and sort out a time when we can watch it.

We subscribe anyway Frank, not for the traditional Disney content but there are some really excellent documentaries on there (plus Ugly Betty which is one of my absolute favourite ever shows and doesn’t stream anywhere else).

I was only listening to Cupid & Psyche the other day!

I'm not sure I would even put Freddie and George in the same sentence for mess Jan.

Freddie's situation was tragic, nowadays he would be able to be treated. I am not ever so familiar with his back story, but he always seemed pretty together, but I may have that wrong.

George, now that is sad. You always hope that by coming out, you would be happier but the opposite seems to have been the case for George. He did give a lot back though, he always seemed a generous man, who treated people well, but got hurt badly and suffered mentally as a result.
