Fruit and veg bags

I have been and collected my fruit and veg this morning and just fetched it out of the car. I haven't had it for a while as sometimes I like to chose what I am buying rather than get a surprise!

The scheme is run as a non profit thing by the local voluntary service and is open to anyone that lives in the Derbyshire Dales. They have four collection points around the area, each one opening just for a couple of hours one morning a week. You have to order and pay the week before if you want any. It is delivered by a local company - it isn't organic though (not that I both with organic veg anyway).

This week I had a fruit, a salad and a veg bag. I got

Salad:
Lettuce
Cress
4 x humumgous tomatoes
1 cucumber
1 pack of beetroot
1 pack celery
1 pack spring onions

Veg:
2 parsnips
2 big carrots (there are never enough carrots!)
1 bag new potatoes (not weighed it but enough for two meals for the four of us)
1 head broccoli
1 swede
1 cauliflower
2 onions

Fruit:
4 bananas
4 apples
4 large oranges
1 punnet strawberries (which I am half way through already  )

Each bag costs £3 each. I think it is quite a bargain!

Crikey!

That salad bag alone would cost about a fiver around here and I could not get the rest for four quid. :o

That would cost me close to $40, not the $20 you paid.
