Doner kebab meat.

Postby Workingman » 06 Jul 2021, 14:46

I was in the Asian supermarket and they had plain bags of frozen kebab meat - lamb. It is already cooked from the spit and is exactly the same as the cuttings you get in a kebab from the shop but for you to make your own.

I just made a couple and they were gorgeous. Wrap, chopped tomato, iceberg lettuce, onion slices, grated carrot, the meat and my own sauce. Loads left for later and cheap as chips. :D :D :D

Abu's has a butchers in store and a fresh deli where all sorts of things are made there in the shop right in front of you all during the day - inc kebabs - I think I should be OK. The vindaloo curry is to die for.... but I haven't, not yet. ;)

I'd be another one to be a bit wary, TBH - I've had some pretty rough kebabs in my time ..... :?

Each to their own conscience, of course, but I would always try to avoid any meat that was halal. In fact, constant reports of farming / animal cruelty has, over the years, tended to send me more down the vegetarian route - we still eat meat, but nothing like as frequently, and we also try and make sure it's locally sourced. Certainly with take-away curries or Chinese, we'd always choose the vegetarian options these days. So it would be a veggie vindaloo, WM! ;)

I've never had a doner kebab  We're a bit like you Ossie, and eat little red meat. We eat veggie with quorn mince etc, and quuto a lot of fish and organic chicken.
