Sadly not Johnny Depp and Paul Hollywood naked, in chains.
S and L have been to their friends house this afternoon and have come home talking about their tick chart. At the moment the two of them (their friends) share a bedroom as their dad uses the third, smaller bedroom for an office. However, they are having a log cabin like office built in the garden and so single bedrooms are up for grabs. Currently they both share the larger of the two double rooms and their parents have the smaller double but the plan is that Rob and Julie will move into the larger room and the girls will have to decide who has the other double room and who has the smaller single room.
Their way of deciding is to have a tick chart of jobs. Jobs like feeding the cats, feeding the birds, cleaning the bathroom, hoovering, hanging out washing, etc. Each job is worth a certain number of ticks and next to the list of jobs and their value is a chart of how many ticks they have earned. At the end of four months, whoever has the most ticks gets the larger bedroom.
My two are really enthused about the idea and have asked if we can devise a tick chart for them and whoever gets the most ticks after a set period of time gets a prize. I said the prize had to be something small - like a bar of chocolate, a nail varnish, etc and I think I will do it in two weekly cycles (or they will get bored).
We are going to sit down and device the chart tomorrow so I am thinking of suitable jobs and the number of ticks they can earn.
So far I have come up with -
feeding the birds - 1 tick
walking the dog - 1 tick (or 2 ticks for a longer walk - their walks do tend to take less than 5 minutes, poor dog. I think she gets dragged up and down the lane)
hoovering - 2 ticks
unloading the dishwasher - 2 ticks
loading the dishwasher - 2 ticks
cleaning the bathroom - 3 ticks
doing the washing - 2 tick
fetching the washing in - 1 tick
cooking a meal - 3 ticks
putting the recycling out - 1 tick
emptying the bins around the house - 1 tick
Any other ideas? I can't include feeding the dog though.
