Hello I is back

Came home yesterday instead of today. We had had three days of relentless rain, and had run out of waterproof clothing. Plus we had eaten the biscuits and I had finished my book, so time to go.

We had a nice time, despite the rain but I have to say I wouldn't rush back. Brixham didn't endear itself to me and the fact we ended up paying almost £90 in parking charges didn't help. We bought a weekly parking pass, but one night it either fell or we didn't put it on the dashboard firmly enough and we got not one, but two parking tickets. Given that for the previous two nights our car was one of about five left overnight, they must have seen it previously with a weekly pass. I paid up, but have now written to them. Doubt anything will happen but worth a try.

The town was dead. Most nights we were one of only a two couples in the restaurants and Thurs we were the only ones in the restuarant and the pub we went in afterwards. The only people out and about were either drunk, two nights we got someone trying to talk to us who could hardly stand up and an old lady, sleeping rough in a shop doorway.

We visited Salcombe, Dartmouth and Totnes, all nice enough, but Paignton and Torquay were pretty grim in my opinion. Have to declare South Devon is not for me, and I have tried it three times now

If ever I wake up in hell, it will look like Paignton

Kaz I did quite like Dawlish, even in the rain and wind

Oh dear, not brilliant then, but I guess it is very early in the season........

We love Dawlish and Teignmouth, and the moors, but then we go in August so it's quite different in winter I would think.

Sorry it wasn't more fun, and that the weather wasn't kinder to you, but it's lovely to have you back :) :)

Oh no Shell! That's such a shame about the parking tickets :x I hope your letter does some good, even if they cancelled one it'd be better than nothing but surely there should be records that you had a weekly pass?

Was it Totnes that was on BBC Breakfast a month or so back because they encourage independent retailers? If so it looked lovely there.

Lovely to see you back!

I have a horrible feeling that once you have paid a parking ticket, that is it, case closed. :(

Oh dear Shell. Shame it wasn't what you were expecting.

But I hope you had a rest at least.

Nice to have you back though.

Such a shame about the awful weather MM, glad you managed to have a nice time though :)
Worth writing about the ticket, you never know.
Agree about Torquay and Paignton, although the boys were much younger when we were there so a big funfair was ideal :)

So be it Molly. I suppose we should have waited but I was just so cross I wanted to pay up and forget it.

Totnes is nice, lovely shops.

We have been to Cornwall in November and that wasn't dead like this.

I am plotting my next holiday now

It is nice to be back xx

What a shame about the ticket and weather. Still a Chang of scenery is always nice, but so too is coming home. Hope you dry out soon.
