I've been like a little whirlwind

Postby debih » 18 Mar 2013, 14:54

I've put everything away in the kitchen - well, not everything as something is missing (a box or a bag) as I can't find any of my fridge magnets.

The poor dishwasher hasn't stopped all day!

Most of the stuff has gone in the units but I have used the pantry too. I have just bunged things on the shelves in the pantry for now as it needs cleaning and altering. At the moment we have lots of shelves in there and I want Mick to get rid of some and make the ones I am keeping deeper. Then it will mainly be used for shoes and coats but I will have 3 nice deep shelves for bits and pieces - mainly all my bottles and jars for preserving.

I have got rid of so much stuff. No doubt I will regret it at some point but hey, ho. I am intending on going to Ikea next month to get some new plates, bowls, etc and get rid of all my old chipped ones. I did buy a nice set from Sainsburys not long ago so I might see if they still have them in and buy the same. A plate and a bowl have already been broken from that set though.

I've even had time to make dinner!

I am hoping that Mick will sort all his tools out tonight and at least just pile them in a corner of the dining room so that I can move the table out a bit. Tomorrow I will mainly be cleaning upstairs and moving all the stuff that I have piled on the stairs up to the respective bedrooms. I could really do with getting on with some ironing too. I will be recording Paul Hollywood tonight so that might encourage me to get the ironing board out tomorrow!

Things in the cupboards look....

Debih,
Are you short of glasses. At the last count we had 92 of different shapes and sizes. This includes wine glasses, whiskey tumblers brandy, sherry and champagne glasses. We don't have many visitors now so normally only use the wine glasses.

Sad aren't I.

All excited about putting things in kitchen cupboards!!

We have been married for 18 years today and moved into this house 6 months earlier so we have been here 18 and a half years. That's how long I have waited for this kitchen!!!!

It's our first house (we rented a house before we bought this one) and we always knew that it needed work on it but had no idea quite how long it would take to do. Mick is completely capable of doing it but if he has the time it means we don't have the money and if we have the money - he doesn't have the time!!!!

This is the last "big" job that really needs doing. I want the pantry altering to become a coat/boot room, the bathroom needs finishing touches, the utility room needs boarding out and a few bits and pieces doing. The hall, stairs and landing all need doing but not until everything else is finished and then we will get someone in to do it. Mick will rewire it but someone else can decorate it!

I am going to decorate the dining room during April I think. I am going to empty it and sugar soap it over Easter and then when the girls are away with my sister make a start on the actual decorating. It seems pointless to clean it all and then put everything back only to move it all again in a couple of months time to decorate.

LOL. You could line them all up and fill them to different levels with water and give yourselves hours of fun.

I've already been told off for throwing the deep fat fryer out. I did volunteer to go and fetch it out of the "to go to the skip" box for him to clean up but he's decided to go to Tesco and buy a new one!

Yay! It really is getting there now!

When we moved into our old house we had to rip the kitchen out before it fell to bits so cooking for the first 6 months of living there was with just a microwave on the floor in the dining room
