Vocal Voices

I've just been for a really good power walk (cough seems a teeny bit better today but still going to docs tomorrow) and I met a chum of mine, Paco.

Paco is 71 years old and looks amazing.

He does lots of running and is really fit. (He overtook me running up a hill last week!)

Anyway..Paco got up at 5am yesterday to run a 52km marathon!

I met him earlier and he certainly doesn't look like someone who'd ran that distance yesterday!

I think if I ran 52kms I would die!

A friend's dad used to run the London marathon; he'd go up on an early train, run it, get the train back and be in the pub having a beer before going home for a late lunch.
He ran the first one, was that 1981? He was 57 then, and ran them all until I moved away which was 1996 so he'd have been 72. Don't know about after that, but he married his second wife (he was a widower) in about 1987 and they had two children
