Such is life

Arrived back home after the ball in Scotland and leaving work, to find that we'd had a power cut which trashed my media server. Had to rebuild the host box, not too onerous but some stuff didn't want to work.

Then my PC started playing up and I had to spend a few hours forcing a new driver down it's neck then letting Windows update it.

Mrs S' hybrid tablet had a SD card in it which provided the D drive and all the email and other files. Which corrupted and died. I'm doing a clean refresh install on that.

So I'd got hold of all that and was happily working in the house and helping Mrs S in the garden when we went over to #1 son's house to find our loppers so Mrs S wasn't having to struggle.

We went in the door and the first thing I saw was water dripping from the ceiling and 1" of mould on the settees. The power was tripped out and would not come back on. I went upstairs and found the retaining bolt on the shower controller had sheared and was pouring water (for months as far as we know), half down the shower drain and half in the house.

We've spend the whole week ripping out ceilings, rescuing furniture and anything else we can, drying out chairs and starting the process of getting the moisture out of the house.

My car is still not fixed, god knows what is wrong with it. But we'll get there.

On the bright side I seem to have negotiated the Stasi security checks for the job in Newcastle and I'll probably be heading to start work a week on Tuesday.

Life should be easier...

Water, the absolute worst thing for properties when things go wrong. Bring back hand pumps in the back yard and solve the problems.

Good luck with the Newcastle job.,, and the accents! ;)
