1) When purchasing a small tub of prawn cocktail, do not slip it into your anorak pocket before driving home.

Seafood sauce gets blinkin' everywhere ....

When reading "tub" as "tube" you know it is time to visit the optician. :o

I mean, who buys tubes of prawn cocktail?

It gets worse: I even wondered why it was so wrong to put one in one's pocket.

We never buy prawn cocktails.
We always take a bag when we go shopping. Have several plastic bags which we re-use.
We have had some leaks over the years. Just wash the inside of the plastic bag and then re-use it.
When we buy fresh fish it is double wrapped.

Never put your shoes under the part of the kitchen units where you chop the cat's food up. Otherwise when you come to put your shoes on you may find there is something soft and squelchy in them - like Whiskas..
