I feel soooo much better about my lifestyle...

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit of an untidy person. It really doesn't bug me if there are a few dirty dishes in the kitchen, the beds left unmade for the day (I'm not home to see it so...?) or that the floor has a mark on it.

Just watching a programme called Obsessive Compulsive Cleaning, where people who are OCD when it comes to cleaning (spending about 4 hours a day cleaning an already spotless house, everything lined up and just 100% in the right /same spot etc) go out and help people who are on the other side of the spectrum, ie quite messy and dare I say it, dirty! And just looking at the houses in tonights programme makes me realise that I'm actually quite normal; neither OCD nor a hoarder / messy person

Phew... a celebratory glass of wine required I think :D :D :D

Ah, I'm using a regular size wineglass tonight - not one of my oversize ones... so it fits into the dishwasher :D :D :D :D :P :P :P

OCD is a terrible anxiety disorder. I wonder, do these people really have it or are they just playing it up for the TV. Not seen the programme so I can't really say......... :?

If they do have OCD they should be getting help not being exploited for the cameras :? Shame on the TV company I say :?

It was quite interesting Kaz; they did a brief report afterwards and by the sounds of things all parties, both the 'messy' and the 'ocd' people actually benefited from the experience.

The one I found amazing was the 20 year or so old hairdresser who has OCD who went to help a 62 year old lady who struggled through her husbands terminal illness and subsequent passing... and was just overwhelmed by it all. Both came out such stronger people - the 20 year old realised he has an issue and was trying to be less OCD, the lady in question now has regained her life and pride... and just watching the interaction between the two I strongly suspect they are still in touch.

TV exploitation - yes, no doubt about it....... but then all participants volunteered for the programme and I'm certain did get paid for it.

What I did find sad is that both 'messy' people in this episode have family - why did they not step in to help before matters got out of hand? :(

So, I am not the only one on the planet who isn't tidy.... thank goodness for that. ;) :D

A lot of this type of programme seem to feature complete opposites who help each other realise the problems each have and help them - eg Supersize vs Superskinny and others.

I find them really interesting - and am often shocked at the amount (in the case of SS v SS) of food which some people consume and find 'normal' :o

i watched it last night
i cant understand people who clean all the time it must be awfull
but to live in an untidy ? messy house because of stress grief or illness
must be heartbreaking
you have to be a very strong person to to overcome this condition
and they all helped each other
the young man even cut the ladys hair bless him
