Peaceful holidays

I'm looking to find a peaceful holiday location in the UK.
My favourite things are lakes, lochs or quiet bays. I love wildlife and gentle walks. I don't want towns, busy ports or beaches.
Do you have any favourite places to recommend? :D
I'll look at hotels, B&B's or self catering...but not camping

When we had busy working lives and needed peace, quiet, comfort and solitude I used to go here with my late husband. Look at the website and have a read and see their 5***** cottages. Expensive but perfect. We would arrive like the walking wounded from our seven day week working life style and leave feeling cured.

You know me Loz, I love Cornwall and I adore my Mevagissey. But, Meva is not particularly smart, its a little shabby round the edges and getting flooded hasn't helped, but is it quiet, it is real and to me it is beautiful

We always rent our holiday apartments from Helen, who is brilliant at knowing exactly what you would enjoy

She does have at least one property in Charlestown, which is really pretty, but really really quiet

St Agnes is also beautiful but Debih could tell you more about that

Saundra, I have never been to the Gower peninsular before, but I have heard it is lovely, so I'll have a look at that :D
Fugi, those cottages are lovely, I'll have a proper look this evening :D
Shell, you and Meva  I'll have a look at the Charlestown cottage because I want really quiet.

Gosforth in Cumbria. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the lakes, is close to Wastwater and has stunning views, fab walks, fab pubs and right on the coast (although you do have to choose your beach walk as some are rather bleak and run down).

We go each October half term and it is one of the most relaxing holidays we have - even with girls and dog in tow!!

I was going to suggest Lynmouth too, and the Exmoor area in general.
