My good deed

Tonight I was driving home when as I indicated to turn right, I saw opposite me a person lying in the road. Now anyone who knows me knows my phobia, but I pulled over and looked out the window and it was apparent it was a poor elderly lady. I leapt out the car and by the time I got to her she was sitting up, but her nose was bleeding horrendously. I was just asking her her name when a man ran up, and said get an ambulance, I will get a blanket. So I phoned the ambulance, that was a trial. They are not local anymore, so she asked the address then the town, then asked me to spell the name of the road twice, I wouldn't mind but Fir Tree Walk is hardly difficult Margaret as I found out her name was, asked us to ring her daughter and I looked through her handbag but couldn't find her phone, so she said it might be in my pocket. Her coat was covered in blood, pools of it. I phoned her daughter, then remembered my first aid training and pinched the bridge of her nose and kept her head forward. I did my CPR training last week, but thankfully that wasn't needed.
I left her when the ambulance arrived, but I am so glad she had a daughter that cared and was waiting for the ambulance at the hospital. I felt so much better knowing she was loved. She was so brave, aged 76, shaking like a leaf but no histrionics. Believe me my stepmum would have been wailing like a banshee.
I have to admit, I did think, please don't get blood on my new coat
