I'm embarrassing

Postby Gal » 17 Apr 2016, 19:22

Today has been the third 'date' for Jen and her new male friend, K.

They have had the afternoon in Durham, a meal and a walk round and coffees etc, he's just dropped her off. He has about a 30 minute drive home and I'd have thought the polite thing would have been to invite him in for a drink, but no.

We are 'embarrassing' apparently. She'd be cringing the whole time if he came in.

I am quite hurt.

Ah, the "embarrassing parents" thing. We all go through it at some stage ... until they want to "borrow" something, then we are absolutely "the best" ever.

Don't be hurt, Gal, it's the Universe getting back at us for doing the same to our parents.

hugs Gal. I have to agree with Jen though, it's only the third date. I think it was at least 3 months before my folks meet the future Mr Weka. And I was only just 18, Jens an adult and needs her own timelines.

Of course she is and I do appreciate this. Just I think it is hurtful to be told she deliberately didn't ask him to come in because we are so cringeworthy.

Your her parents, of course you are, even if you two were the most famous hip/cool people in the world who everybody desperately wanted to meet.... You'd still be "cringeworthy "

It was a little unkind Gal, I agree. Fine if she'd said it was because it was too soon to introduce to family, but cringeworthy is not very tactful :? Have a hug (((((x))))))

You have my sympathy, Gal. I would feel hurt if it happened to me.

If I were you I would ask her, kindly, what exactly was the reason. It may be something quite different
from what you think - something silly - like the colour of the wallpaper, for instance. I suggest that you
have a friendly chat with her.

Kaz Jen doesn't do tact I'm afraid - calls a spade a spade

We did have a chat later Aggers....I know why she said we were embarrassing (I'd ask too many questions, apparently  ) She's quite excited about this, I think she doesn't want anything to 'spoil' it at this stage.

Thanks all x

Personally I think it is a mother's duty to embarrass her children :P Yes she wasn't very tactful, Gal, but I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt you xx
