Oh how very emotional...

What a morning!!

Came back from my run to find Don messing about in the lounge.

Yesterday a package arrived for him..it was a video player. (We haven't had one for many years now.)

So he plays the first video this morning of the collection we have of the boys (that we haven't watched for about 18 years)..and it was so utterly emotional we've both just been in floods of tears.

On this first tape we had...Craig at 7 years old, the twins from newborn to 5 months, Joanie and Dan (Don's parents) and most heart breaking...Con. :(
So full of life...it was good to see his smiling face again but so, so gut wrenching that he's no longer with us.

It was amazing to watch Dan cradling the twins in his arms.

The spooky thing is..our house that we had sold that we no longer lived in as we'd moved to The Squirrels, had been broken into before we'd had a chance to move all our stuff out, and burglars had taken everything..and I mean everything..right down to a bowl with pot pourri in it..and the light fittings!!

BUT...they'd left the plastic bag with these 6 videos tucked away in a corner in the basement of the house. Obviously they'd missed them.

I am extremely glad they did!!!

Even though it was sad to be watching on film our loved ones that are no longer with us..it was wonderful to see our beautiful children when they were so young.

We'll watch the rest over the weekend..at least I'll be prepared and have tissues ready. :)

I have to admit Kaz..the tears flew freely as soon as the first shots of teeny weeny Jacob and Conor came on. :D

On the tape as well was how totally helpful and loving Craig was towards his little brothers..that got me gulping. :D

And just seeing Dan and Con again....was amazing.

But what is evident on the tape is the laughter and smiles...and that's what we remember Dan and Con for. xx

How lovely, things like that are precious :)

We have loads of tapes of he boys as they've grown - my Aunty showed up at the hospital on the day that Tom was born (16 years ago today, coincidentally) with her video camera, a pack of blank tapes and a loan of the camera, bless her.
A couple of years ago we sorted all of the tapes out, connected the video camera we'd since bought to our DVD recorder and made discs of them all.
Watching them back was so bittersweet, especially the one of Tom's Christening with my Nan, John's Dad and my uncle...we lost all of them within the next two years.
