  Oh dear Saundra

I'm really not joking about the clock, it's on the top corners of the multi-storey above the market hall. A real blot on the landscape, it's a white clad very 1970s car park which can be seen from a few miles away as you approach the town from the M6.
It's actually on two sides of the corner and I don't think that the time was ever the same on both sides  Then the hands fell off and now the whole multi-storey has been deemed unsafe and closed

I think I know it, Jo. Is it the one just off Stafford Rd where those of us coming in from Staff had to go round the big roundabout and back on ourselves to park?

Ugly is too polite a word to describe it.

That's the one Frank, by the bus station

You can see it in the background on the left of the pic here, although not in all its glory, but you can certainly see the clock with no hands

Ha! And the yellow blob-head locals still exist.

It's a shame because the older area just round the back is/was quite pleasant, sort of Ye-olde-shppinge-market.

Did the clock lose the will to live?

When were you last there Frank? I'm trying to think which bit you mean. There was an old outdoor market area by the bus station but that went over 20 years ago.

Early 80s?

It was the market. There were some reasonable pubs(!) and decent old buildings.

Ahh...it's changed a bit since then. The markets you remember were really good but were lost for the shopping centre to be built. Not sure if you remember as you came in from Stafford, you'd pass Littleton Colliery about 2 miles before Cannock? We live on the site of that.
