Oh goodness, that brought back memories! :D :D :D

We had a veg rack next to the cooker and Max. our first Alsatian, would sneak in and pinch a carrot. He would then take it to his favourite spot in the hallway by the front door and gnaw away at it for ages, turning it over and over. The only bit left was the leafy stump and he would bring that back to the kitchen as a "thank you".

Good luck to (cheeky face) Fraggle for Monday. xx

Just catching up with this Kaz, good luck for today.
((hugs)) to you all and fusses to Fraggle

The carrot thing makes me laugh; a few years back a friend was in hospital so I helped out a bit by popping in to feed her two dogs. I decided to see if they like carrots as a treat - well the answer was a resounding no. Champ took the carrot pieces I had given him, chewed them into tiny tiny pieces and spat them out all over the room / on the bed. So whenever I hear / read of anyone giving their dogs carrots, it makes me think of Champ and I have a quiet chuckle.

That’s funny Ria

He’s had his first jab this morning, at the vet’s, and seems a bit perkier :)

Is he on one daily injection or two? Bill was on Caninsulin and started off on one, having 12 units, but then it was decided that he’d do better having 6 units every 12 hours.

Me, John and Joe were all okay with giving him his injections but Tom never gave him one. He never said that he didn’t want to but always had an excuse as to why he couldn’t. I think he was worried about hurting him. When me and John had a few days in Dublin Joe was doing the injections and Tom was doing the eye drops.

Our Maggie was deathly sick a year ago and we had to do injections too. The vet was wonderful and showed the kids how to do them and lined up a whole pile of saline injections for them to practice on our dog. Poor thing! But she didn’t seem to mind (or was too sick to care) and just quietly stood there while they tried and perfected their technique. Even at home when she was getting better she was still ok with them. I wonder if their skin isn’t as sensitive or if the needle was so fine it didn’t really hurt in the first place?

I’m so pleased to hear that Fraggle has perked up a bit already with the first one. I hope he’s good for you like our Maggie was for us.
