Why is it that when I squeeze a teabag in my fingers it burns yet I can drink the resulting infusion without any problem, and I do not use milk, cold water or sugar?

That certainly is strange.
One can only assume that the mouth region is less sensitive to heat than the fingers.
Is that the reason why we have handles on teacups?

Wm must have an insensitive palate, it's not good for you to drink boiling liquid ;)
Of course habitually drinking boiling liquid would result in an insensitive palate...
I don't use my fingers, I squish the teabag against the inside of the mug with the teaspoon :)

If I'm just making tea for myself, I often fish the teabag out with my fingers (I've always had asbestos fingers) but never drink it until it has cooled a little!

I a!ways use a teaspoon if the tea is for others  :D
