Garden waste

Same as Rodo we are really lucky.... our council will take general waste every 2 weeks, and on the other week they take recycling and garden waste. Food waste is collected every week. We can also recycle batteries and small electrical items and I think (need to check) that we can also recycle clothing and shoes.

yeah mines is free too, to be honest I never have much 'garden waste' as my garden is tiny and mostly slabs!

I have a grey wheely bin which is emptied fortnightly, a blue wheely bin which is emptied the alternate week, along with red box which is for glass/jars etc, rarely goes out as i never have much glass. The blue bin takes everything else, paper, card, cans, tins, plastic etc. The brown wheely bin gets emptied from spring to end October for garden waste and is fortnightly.

My garden is tiny and makes it worse with 3 big wheely bins in it

Our garden's tiny too Poll but luckily there's a gap between the side of the house and the garden wall and the bins (and the garden hose, the rotary washing line when not in use and various footballs) fit up there nicely. I know it can't be helped for some people but I hate to see wheelie bins in front gardens.

Kaz, we had a wheelie bin for recycling at our old house and it was like going back to the dark ages when we moved here and had to get used to a box again (different council) and not be able to recycle as much waste. I was sadly excited when the council decided to switch to bins here too

Jo and Poll, wheelie bins do take up a lot of space don't they? We have a good sized garden really for such a new house - bigger than any of the neighbours as we are on a corner plot - but the bins still look 'big'

yeah they do, I hate it, I have 3 of them in a row and then the red box on the ground, very annoying!
