No I don't think thats the case.

Listening to it on the news Ofsted suggested that it was closed temporarily after the first day of their inspection. That means that the children must have been there. The second day of the inspection was yesterday.

What annoys me most is that all the publicity forced Ofsted to comment that they would be bringing their inspection forward - which meant the school knew that it was imminent and could have used the time to become very Ofsted friendly. Had Ofsted said nothing, let the school continue for a while until the publicity died down and then gone in they might be seeing a completely different picture.

I think it will be a temporary closure. One of our governors is also a member of Derbys exclusions and admissions panel and said that the area is desperately short of school places.

I think you're right, debih, the first batch of on-line news reports I read didn't make the time-line of events very clear .....

Despite the shortage of school places in Derby, I have to say that I do hope it is a permanent closure. I think that there is absolutely no place for Islamic faith schools in this country - or any other hard-line faith school for that matter where religion is the dominant / over-riding concern. If you believe in a fully integrated society, it will surely never be achieved while such schools survive.
