I'd have thought so, otherwise you're going to have days and days of tweets to scroll through :? Even if you don't follow many people you may have some who have a lot to say for themselves

A bit like you do here, you mean, or FB?? ;) It's whatever you make of it, just like all everything else, really :) Not all of my 70 followees tweet every day, although a few do tweet several times a day, but that's the thing, they're all under 140 characters so it isn't like it takes ages to read :D

But you see Gal, you haven't said, do you login once a day, several times a day, every hour or so???

Oh here, yes of course I log in at least once a day, usually 2 or 3 times. But it's fairly easy to keep up, even if it's just once a day.
Fb, usually once a day at least, but am logged in for anything between 10 minutes and a few hours, though not glued to it! But by scrolling through and hiding all the extraneous pictures, quotes, etc there's not much there.
But here and fb are my usual places, and between them I don't actually spend very much time...I guess it's that if I added in twitter then it would be more time.
I can't be bothered on a regular basis, so when I do log in there's a lot there, and anything I might have been interested in is already old news :?

I go on Twitter maybe 4 or 5 times a day, but honestly you don't spend half as much time there as you would on FB for example, there aren't games to play to occupy your time, nor long debates or conversations to read, nor lengthy posts to read and reply to as you might on a messageboard. And it is accessible on my phone, so if I am in a queue or sitting having a coffee somewhere, I can get my phone out and read/Tweet :D I wouldn't normally use my phone for messageboards.

I'm sure there must be more than me here that enjoys Twitter ;)

I'm not anti-twitter Gal, honest :) Am trying to understand just how people use it as I can't quite get to grips with it :)

It's more that I'd have to remind myself to go on there I suppose; I'm used to here and fb as 'regulars', and not sure I want any more :?
As for the fb games, I only play two and tend to use them as little rewards for having done some h-word or something like that, sit here with a coffee, use my lives and that's that :)

I just don't get this TwitBook thing.

If you aren't a member of one or the other you are excluded, a pariah, not one of the 'in' crowd.

If you use either, that's fine, but please keep your posts, and references to them, there.

Thank you.

Be fair Wm, this was a post about twitter, and a few of us have used it to discuss whether twitter is worth using or not.
Surely it's a reasonable subject to air?

If you aren't a member of one or the other you are excluded, a pariah, not one of the 'in' crowd.

Not at all, who do you think you're excluded by? Most of us are too old to worry about any in crowd surely ;)

If you use either, that's fine, but please keep your posts, and references to them, there.

Now that's really unfair, how would anyone who doesn't already use either, get to learn anything about them?
I didn't think VV had any particular censorship.
The whole cyberworld is still quite new, this site is somewhere people can ask what it's all about, what you can do at those or any other sites, without fear of ridicule. And some people might go on to use them and enjoy it ;)

I have bitten the bullet and put the app on my phone and am following things like local paper, town council, BBC news, etc.

I can't see me ever tweeting but maybe I'll pick up useful info on local stuff.

Well, I am sort of getting used to it, but still find it difficult to figure out. So far I am following 24, am being followed by 10 and have tweeted 16 tweets - I got a new follower today, a man from Cork, I haven't a clue who he is (someone of the same name is a union leader over here, but he would be too young and how would he find me anyway) and his account is protected, so I certainly won't be following him!! I can't really see it taking over from FB for me, to be honest, but it's interesting to see what is trending and also to see the tweets of those I follow. I even managed a sort of conversation with other followers of Tristan MacManus, he is a young man from Ireland, a professional ballroom and latin dancer who is one of the pros on Dancing with the Stars in the US. Any time I check FB I also check Twitter (as much as I can  ). It's interesting limited myself to 140 characters!

WM that was a bit unfair :? I actually thought the thread developed into an interesting discussion of using/not using Twitter and how people feel about it and I was specially interested in what Gal had to say as she seems to be the VVer who uses it the most.
