Definitely boots, and a jacket over the dress. Or, I have seen some fantastic velvet jumpsuits recently, one in Next I think.

Apart from Z listers desperate for a photo op at a premmyaire I didn't think high heels were a a"thing" anymore. Not seen a normal woman in them for years.

Just be yourself, Jo, and you'll be fine. There are no "rules" any more.

When I went to the funeral earlier this year Zoe's four daughters wore all the colours of the rainbow - not a black dress in sight.

I wear nothing above a trainer or flip-flop and haven't for over 30 years.

You'll find something comfy, with a suite or flat boot.

Sez me, who knows nuffin about fashion and only about comfort.

And that, dear Jan, is what it's all about.

Fashion is a fad, comfort is timeless.

Problem is that anything dressy doesn’t suit me, and I end up feeling really self conscious and uncomfortable.
Plus I don’t want to spend much as it’s something that’ll sit in my wardrobe never to see the light of day again until I have a clear out and it gets put in a bag for the charity shop.

Took the original dress back, picked up the three I’d ordered from M&S and tried them on in the changing room, had all three refunded at the till, found another three in store, one was okayish so I bought it. Tried it on again at home and it’s now back in the bag ready to be returned. I’ve now ordered another online which is supposed to be delivered today.

Frank, I’d love nothing more than to be myself and rock up in jeans and a cardi, that’s pretty much what I wore for my own , but it’s one of these fancy Instragrammable expensive venue weddings.

Amanda stayed last night and we were chatting and she’s having the same dilemma, trouble finding a dress and she has shoes that she can’t walk in so is taking boots as a back up

We’ve got a lot of running around to do on the day too because we’ve got to take Bill. He’ll obviously be at John’s Mom’s throughout the day but he’s not used to being there so after the ceremony we’re going to pop back and take him a quick walk because he’ll have been on his own for several hours, go back to the venue for the meal and speeches and then after that we need to go back again, feed him and give him his 6pm insulin and eye drops. Seeing as we’re doing that we’ve also been volunteered to go and check on the dogs belonging to two of the nephews.

Just found a black Bardot neck line knee length dress in my wardrobe, tried it on, summoned John and he laughed at the fact I’ve been stressing when I had that all along. He said it’s perfect….so I’ve ordered some black flat knee high suede boots and, to brighten it up, a red clutch bag and this necklace.

I’ve got red lipstick and nail varnish to complete the look.
