Thanks Ally, a couple of anxious hours but friend 2 (J) phoned once they were at the hospital and had been checked in at A&E, then again later when they were back at holiday home.
Friend 1 (D) had been x-rayed and her whole hip area is very badly bruised but there's no major break; if there is anything chipped/broken it's at the edge of the pelvis, which they wouldn't do anything for anyway. They won't know for sure till the radiologist's proper report in the morning.
They gave her some decent painkillers which were working well...phew!
We'd been trying to work out logistics of all possible outcomes, and it's still not clear as they're only supposed to be down till Tuesday, but if it comes to it J is quite confident about driving D's car, so we think all will be ok.
Just as we thought we didn't have to worry about dinner lol, then all this happened after the shops had shut, so glad that little Tesco has opened in the village, I found some burgers in the freezer and went up there to get buns and lettuce!
I or we will go and see her/them tomorrow to see how she is and see what we can do.
