Heck Ally - and Ton..... that is beyond scary and how lucky that no-one was injured in either incidence.

Kate. if it was a ruptured fuel line the flames would be almost instantaneous. That there was smoke for some time before the fierce flames erupted suggests either an electrical fault or an oil fire (oil on the exhaust manifold) which then burned through or cracked a fuel line.
