Hope it's back on soon Frank. We were walking back with Billy a few weeks ago when loads of National Grid vans passed us on the estate and parked by the school. Around 11pm there was a knock on the door and it was a worker asking if our gas was on. I tried a burner on the hob and it was fine so off he went. The next day the vans were still around and by afternoon I was feeling a bit chilly. By chance I looked on Facebook and Becky next door had posted about running out of hot water and how one of the National Grid people had come and reset her boiler. I looked at ours and sure enough the pilot light was unlit so I pressed the reset button and we were up and running. It turned out that most of the village had been affected though and they'd set up a portacabin on McColls car park for a couple of days so people could go and get help if needed.
Lunchtime today our electric flicked off for a split second. This was followed by automated calls to the landline every 15 minutes or so for the next two hours giving us updates on our powercut
