Twelve years for me as I'm 54 in March - I get mine on 19th March 2025  I also possibly get my bus pass on the same day. I say possibly as on the Govt Website it says things may change............. It's so unfair isn't it Ton, all our lives until a couple of years ago women our age expected to get our pension at 60 - and you reach your 50s and they pull the rug out from under...................and now this!!

On the last letter from the Department of Work & Pensions dated 11th February 2012 about the increase in the State pension, it shows I will receive the basic pension of £107.45 per week. I will get an additional Pre 1997 State Pension of £158.27 less £111.37 for Contracted Out Deduction of £111.37. This is because I get a private pension from my former employee. I was still paying National insurance which was just a few pence less than the amount I would have paid if I had not been contracted out. Another stealth tax which I was not told about when I had the option. There must be a lot of people who have retired in a similar position.
Not complaining as we can still afford to go on cruises.
Each government since I started work has altered the rules on pension contributions and benefits.
Any body remember Graduated Retirement payments?
