Sounds like you've been very busy Jen.

My mum still has (in perfect condition) a china dinner service and a full china tea set that was given to her for her wedding 54 years ago. :o

Mum keeps it in her loft having long ago stopped using it and asked if I'll have it in due course.

Of course I said yes - but I know that it's something that I'll probably never use, my sis doesn't want it therefore it will end up stacked away in my basement. :(

It's a shame really.

Good afternoon all. It's gone ever so cloudy here after a sunny and quite warm start. That's probably because I've just put a load of washing out.

I've got a doggy here who is feeling very sorry for himself. We were on our way home this morning on his walk when he ran into some woods where he usually goes to chase squirrels. I waited for him a short distance away but when he ran out he was furiously trying to get something off his back. I ran over and there were four wasps on his back and a couple on his neck. I batted them off him and we carried on but they kept bothering him as we walked. I batted them off him each time they landed on him and he was really eager to get home, I was having to jog along to keep up with him and he didn't stop to sniff anything which is very unusual. M and I checked him over when I got home as he'd run straight upstairs to her and she was concerned that he didn't seem himself. His lip was swollen and he seemed quite sensitive about one of his back legs. I did some Googling and ended up giving him half a loratadine tablet which seems to have eased the reaction for him. He's still feeling sorry for himself but has been begging for the ham on our sandwiches so no problems there.

John's bringing Joe back from Wales this afternoon, he's been staying with his Nan since Wednesday and I've really missed him! Still, I think he's had a lovely time, his cousin and his girlfriend took him out for the day on Thursday to some caves and he'd also set up a Playstation at MIL's house for Joe in case he got bored.

John's going to text me when he leaves and they'll come home to a pasta bake and apple and blackberry crumble - the blackberries were picked fresh last night on the common.

Jen, could one of your children take the china just for now while you decide what to do with it? Or maybe they'd want it for the sentimental value? Like Ally's parents, mine still have their china tea set which was a wedding present 58 years ago. It does make me laugh though because my Mom still uses it for guests and even my sister gets a cup, saucer and a plate for her cake when she visits - I just get a mug and a mismatched plate

My parents have had a sort out recently and I came home from there yesterday with a carrier bag full of Christmas decorations, including some old 1970s large glass baubles in garish colours and designs. My Grandad bought them for me though and I couldn't bear for them to go to the charity shop. I won't use any of them, apart from the enormous pine cones, but there are a lot of memories attached to them.

Good afternoon all.

We've just had a power cut for about one and a half hours - the second one in 24 hours.

Lunch will be a little late, and I'm starving.

What concerns me is that we could not use the phones - land-line or mobile. Is this normal?

Hope you are all well.

Afternoon. I've been gardening for most of the day. Cut all my lavender down now. I had masses of it. So I had plenty for my needs, left plenty for the bees and now it is all over, so cut it down and will use it bundles up for the fire in winter :D I loves my lavender I do :D

Just had a dog walk too and now putting a chicken in the oven for dinner.

Hope everyone has had a goodly day x

Evening all, not such a nice day here, dull mostly and chilly but at least there wasn't any rain. We packed up five boxes of stuff today from our bedroom, mostly shoes, Mr. Osc's clothes and other stuff from the wardrobe. I also printed labels to go on redirection letters for the various banks etc. and I have a template letter done, so hopefully I will get those done and sent out in the next couple of days. I also closed my eyes while sitting in the armchair and slept for an hour :o

Jen, we had a 90+ piece Royal Doulton dinner service and I agonised over it. Nobody wanted it, not Miss Osc, my nieces, my sister, no one was interested in buying it, had it on ebay and another similar Irish site, but nothing. In the end I asked the estate agent to ask the buyers if they were interested, and they were, so we are leaving it for them! We gave a china tea set (Mr. Osc won it at golf) and most of our crystal to the charity shop, as again nobody wanted it. I also sold a few smaller bits and pieces on ebay.

We've had our dinner, pulled pork on ciabatta rolls with coleslaw. Probably American golf on the tv this evening unless there is something else worth watching.
