Well Di, there are probably millions like me who allow them to estimate and haven't realised just how much of their money they have in their accounts until they get a bill that they don't have to pay because they've already unwillingly paid it. So not only do they have as yet unused gas and leccy but they have the money for it as well. This must distort their profit/loss stuff. I am going to phone them and insist on the £66.00 they still have of my money be paid back to where it belongs -in my bank account and not theirs.

Never, ever again!

We are with Utility Warehouse and pay the exact amount each month. I always check the meter readings when the bill comes through if it is estimated and if there is a big difference I ring it through and it is amended on the next months bill but it is usually pretty close to the actual useage.

We need to look to see if we are on the best deal really as we have been with UW for years - but it is just such a minefield that I can't be bothered!

After a bad time with DD from npower I now pay quarterly on my own meter readings. British Gas is an anathema to me. :(

I send my meter readings every month. Get an on line statement which shows how much I owe and how much I have paid by DD. Get a paper bill three times a year as well free of charge as we are over 65. Also get some divi depending on how much we have used.
Also a UK call centre if there is a problem.
Changed from SSE as they could not explain their own account which they had sent me with estimated readings. Had been trying to send them on their website for four months and kept getting a message to say there was a computer problem.
