Wow what a trip this is turning into Ally, I envy you the train travel, I absolutely love it!! Even the little 55 minute step from Gloucester to Brum then back again was fun, and last year travellling from here to Ely cross country to my sister's graduation was great!

well you have certainly had a good trip ally
its a lovely journey on the east coast mainline
all the interesting places to see
but 1/2 hr in edingburgh and you managed to go walk about very brave
have a good safe journey home tomorrow

Oh dear, I hate to tell you this Ally but one face on that clock (the one you would have seen from the Scott Monument) is set a few minutes fast so that people don't miss their trains.......

Sorry, shouldn't laugh..............

I cannot believe that you've 'only' had two weeks here Ally, what you've managed to pack into that short time makes it feel like you've been her ages and ages.

I have just read up about it and it has been fast since 1902 when the North British hotel opened (now the Balmoral Hotel) but they always put it right on 31st December for the Hogmanay celebrations. Very considerate of them.

I have to agree, Edinburgh is a lovely city, I am very lucky to live only 8 miles away from the city centre and always think how lucky I am. It is gorgeous on a sunny day and also just as nice on a snowy day - but have to say, you didn't get very good weather today, its been wet all day I think!

I loved edinburgh too and we tried to settle there, but unfortunately we get jobs in London first.
