Saundra, if the lads were both settled and it was just me and John then it’d be something we’d do, we’ve both said that we’d love to spend Christmas in New York. No doubt Joe would be sorted now for someone to spend the day with but Tom’s on his own, and I know we could take them but it’d cost a small fortune (because we’d no doubt have to pay for them).

Well, I am back with my new working keyboard on the laptop so that I can make intelligible missives to you all... don't ask.

Another one here who will be having a mid-afternoon meal on Christmas Day - the morning is for the children. None of us like turkey so we will be having goose (hooray! :Hi: ) and Yorkshires.. There will be seven adults, grans, gramps and step-gramp, plus mum and dad. Goose is quite rich so you do not need much of it so we should be OK. The Christmas pudding will be Irish "Plum or Figgy Pudding" - it has rum, brandy and whiskey in it so has quite a kick - sometimes Guinness. It is made a month ahead so that the flavours develop.

After the meal we will sit down to watch Wallace and Gromit then the grandchildren will go to bed. I'll then go home to catch Gavin & Stacey, or not. ;)

We are going up to our Daughter's with the presents tomorrow morning. Then they are off to Lee's parents for Christmas dinner. We saw our son and his gf today and took their presents.
Dinner with just the two of us then a spot of tv and an early night. Though all plans are subjct to late change!
Have a lovely Christmas day everyone.

Jo, we spent Christmas in New York in 2008. My sister worked for Aer Lingus so could bring family if she worked a Christmas flight, I could travel for free and Edward for the very lowest price available. We went a few days early and my sister arrived on Christmas Eve. We had a ball! We had to pay for the hotel, but on Christmas Day we had an amazing meal paid for by Aer Lingus - it was a buffet with all sorts of gorgeous food. We went to a show on Christmas night, Times Square was jammed as were the crowds in the Rockefeller Centre. We went ice skating in Central Park - well, perhaps skating is not the word, creeping around the edge of the rink hanging on to the rail would be more like it! We even found somewhere to go dancing. Such amazing memories. Go when you get the chance, because if grandchildren come along you might feel less inclined to be away.
