Bill’s never been one for playing with a ball outside, he looks at us as if to say you threw it now you go and find it in the long grass.

Sounds like our cat - push a ball along the ground, she watches it, then looks at you as if to say "is that supposed to be for me? and just what am I supposed to do with it"
