Good afternoon all.

We never did get the thunderstorms or rain the forecast on the TV and in the media, just a few bits of drizzle as the local weather site said. It is now a bit oppressive and very still so we could be in for a late afternoon storm - we ned one.

I have been spending a lot of time at recycling places, charity shops and the tip during my big clear out. Thankfully it is coming to an end - just he shed to do!

Well done Jen, that's some saving to spend elsewhere. 8-)

So.... to the shed.

Afternoon everyone :)

Well my kindle has died on me, for no particular reason  :cute: I am tapping this out on my phone, but it will be short and sweet until my new one arrives tomorrow as everything is just so damned tiny!

Briefly then, glad you’re home safe and sound Ally :D xx

You too Cruiser! xx

*Waves to everyone*

How are you getting on with donating to charity shops Frank? We took some items a few weeks ago and tried three shops who couldn’t take them as they’re overwhelmed with items, the fourth only took them because we were talking and said we couldn’t be bothered with trying any others so would go to the tip.
I’ve got a pile of stuff to take again so I think I’ll phone ahead and see who wants them.

Jo, I find it depends what you are taking.

Electricals are big NO as PATCH testing needs to be done and it is expensive. Clothes are hit and miss, it depends what you have. My ex camping gear is a big hit - day bags and rucksacks are OK, as are cool bags, camping chairs and so on.

Mobile phones are OK if they work.

I just cannot be arsed with eBay or Freecycle. I put stuff up and get few replies... and those I do get want 'perfect' items.

They didn’t even ask what we had Frank!
It was jigsaws and a load of kids books in good condition (barely looked at as Joe’s never been much of a reader but that never stopped me buying them in a vain attempt to turn him into one  ).

We sent a perfectly good modern design sofa to the tip a couple of years ago. I phoned a charity who sell furniture and their men with a van came out (eventually, after cancelling twice at the last minute) and said they didn’t want it as it had a very slight fade from the sun on the side of one arm. Surely even if they asked £20 for it then the charity would’ve benefitted. They have stuff in the shop window which is pretty tatty priced much more than that! Phoned another and they never even showed up. Put it on the local free page on Facebook and a fella arranged to pick it up but never showed either.
