Thank you for all the good wishes, it means a lot xxx

Yesterday was quite emotional, I'd been up until 2am as I needed to phone my sister in Oz. Although she'd been expecting the news it was still upsetting. Had a restless night, but did manage to get off in the end and then slept through until nearly 9am. Sorry I didn't post, had lots of other phone calls to make and there was a bit of a kerfuffle getting the surgery to issue the death certificate, Mother's usual GP is on annual leave, all very stressful but eventually it got sorted.

Because of the delay and confusion we couldn't really book a hotel and in any case nothing can be done now before Monday. We're driving up tomorrow and have appointments with the Registrar and the Funeral Directors Monday afternoon, both of whom have been very helpful. Apparently the wait for the crematorium is 2/3 weeks at the moment, but Cassandra at the Co-op has said we'll be able to finalise the date/time when we see her. We'll stay over until Wednesday so we can go into the CH on Tuesday to thank them for looking after mother and also to get her room cleared, not looking forward to that bit, but it has to be done within 7 days so needs must.

Spent yesterday afternoon trying to get my head round planning the funeral. Mother absolutely loved Il Divo so I've picked Ava Maria at the start, and Amazing Grace to close. Still deciding on a hymn for the service, think it will be Abide With Me. Both the girls want to do a reading, Z's is She's Gone by David Harkness and M has picked verses from John in the new testament. It's helped that mother and I had various conversations about what she'd like when my stepfather died and I'm happy she would have liked these choices.

Rushing around today getting myself sorted ready for the drive tomorrow morning.
