Very refreshing though isn't it after all of the bad press that teenagers get. We were pretty nervous driving home, wondering what we'd find, as we've both been to typical teenage parties back in the day

Saundra, we've got a couple of large canvases behind both sofas in that room which can't be seen but there's nothing else around really. A lot of my things which I had around the rooms - ornaments and photos in frames - at the old house didn't look right here for some reason, plus it's less things to dust :P They're all packed away in boxes now.

Jo it's a similar situation here - our living room does have a few more bits around than yours, but not many more. As you say what suited an older house just doesn't fit so well into new build - we have a lot still packed away as well :)

Well luckily our leather sofas fitted as they were only three years old  I did freecycle my old pine dining table and chairs and get a new oak one, and I bought a nest of oak tables and new bedroom furniture for us .......

One of our old sofas and an armchair are downstairs in the front room. We got two new sofas and a chair for in here, and John's Mom had the sideboard, TV cabinet and two cupboards so it kind of got freecycled  We've kept our bedroom furniture though, as did the boys with some additions as all Joe had in his room at the old house was a bed and a baby wardrobe - nothing else would fit, he couldn't even have a full-size wardrobe as the ceiling was too low, so he got a whole new set of furniture apart from his bed. I've never seen anyone get so excited about having a bedside cabinet

  Oh bless! Becky got our old triple wardrobe and bedside tables as we have built-in wardrobes here and we bought new chest of drawers and bedside cabinets for us, Harry got B's old double wardrobe and bedside cabinet, and H's old wardrobe got thrown away  It was one of those fabric ones on a frame........

Tim would love to live in a minimalist house like that. I get too attached to things though. I also can't bear to throw old but still in good condition furniture out either. Our dining room table and chairs weren't new when we got married, we bought them off a friend. They are Hygena G Plan, so really good quality, still in beautiful condition but so dated, well they are over 30 years old. No one would want them, they are too old fashioned, but I can't bear to dump them so they stay. I figure no one sees them anyway.
