Not sure how expensive it will be, but we have insurance, thankfully!

When Bill cut himself on a fence over the common we took him to the vets in Pets At Home as it was a Sunday and his usual vets was closed. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost, we paid £140 on the first visit for the wound to be cleaned and stapled, and for painkillers and the cone of shame. He had four further appointments with the vet over the next few weeks, including finally having the staples removed, and we didn't have to pay any more. All was included in the initial charge.

He had his boosters last month at his usual surgery and it was £44 - I still had the receipt from last June in his record book and we only paid £30 last year

Gal, really sorry to see that Smudge still isn't well :(

Poor Pepper. My cocker spaniel had one of those. It actually went in the bottom of his foot and worked its way out a week later between his toes. They are horrible things and so hard to avoid in the summer.

Will think of her tomorrow and look forward to hearing she is on the mend, with her cone of shame.

Sorry to hear about Smudge Gal xx

Poor little Pepper.

I do hate to see poor little animals suffer. I hope she gets better soon.

Thank you Aggers (((x)))

It has been upsetting watching her limp. She's gone off to the vets now, I made a big fuss of her. Fraggle wonders what is going on I think, as Mick has taken Pepper but not him! I told him she hasn't gone for a treat! ;)

Kaz, only just seen this - sorry! poor Pepper - roll on 2pm for that call that all is over and done with and letting you know what time you can collect her. Fusses to Fraggle in the meantime and fusses to Pepper when you get her home x

Gal, I forget, has the vet taken blood from Smudge and sent off for testing? :(

Well, I have some some brilliant news! When Mick got her there, they had a look under the bandage and the seed was working its way out! So they managed to gently remove it without putting her under :D 8-) 8-) 8-)

She is home, with antibiotics, wearing a cone - she is not happy about this, she was running round the room trying to pull it off against the floor, and the furniture :? She's asleep now though, on the sofa in Mick's study :) :) :)

Such a relief, and thanks so much for all the hugs, vibes and kind words :) :) xxxx
