Still boiling

Postby Rodo » 20 Aug 2015, 10:42

Over a fortnight now of having to boil our water and we are heartily sick of it.

Still no end in sight apparently.

Luckily we are just south of the cut off line. It must be very time wasting to have to boil water for nearly everything.
Had a small dose of it when I had to bathe my eye before the drops were put in. That was four times a day for over three weeks and was only a small amount.

Heard today about a lady in Horwich which is outside the area who had suffered badly. She rang United Utilities and they told her to boil her water. Yet she had originally been made to believe that her area was safe.

Do this firm actually know what they are doing?

It is shocking, there does not seem to be an end in sight.

If it was happening in London heaven and earth would be moved to sort it out.

It really is truly abysmal, and yes Frank I'm afraid you are right about that! It is only really since I moved away from the SE that I've realised how London-centric this country really is!

That's just ridiculous, Rodo. Can't they flush out this cryptothingy with chemicals or similar rather than muck around with UV light?

At least you'll be getting some level of compensation - and they seem to be saying there's going to be a criminal investigation into the contamination ...

In West Africa, drinking water always had to be boiled and filtered too.
