Grrrr post office!

Yesterday a card through the door, saying an item couldn't be delivered as there was excess postage to pay of £1.11.

I wasn't expecting anything but thought I'd best go down there and pay up to find out what it was.
Half-wondered if it was an item of the Clinique stuff, but was pretty sure it wouldn't be, since I was one of the few who could get all of it

So I got it - the smallest envelope possible (like those tiny Christmas cards), with a tiny protrusion.
Smaller than you get with a badge on a Birthday card - much smaller
It's 11p for the extra postage and £1 handling fee

Just opened it, and it's such a sweet little thing.
One of my cousins saw the pics I posted on fb of the mother wren feeding the baby at the nesting box and went and found me an Rspb pin, of a wren, just because she thought I'd like it

i had to pay extra for some paper work from age uk
they had stamped the wrong price on it
i did complain to age uk but heard no more

I have had that happen several times. A couple of cards at Christmas were too big for an ordinary stamp, and then at my birthday the same. It is really annoying but sometimes you don't like to tell the people concerned.

Precisely! You could ignore it I suppose and not bother collecting it.

Any cards or other packages which I think may cost more than a second class stamp, I take to the post office and have it checked to make sure it has the correct stamp on. I also get a proof of posting and receipt so that there is official proof that the cost was correct.

We use a small local post office where we get good service. Took a small parcel at 8.30 a.m on Monday morning and they accepted it. It is also a general store which opens at 7.00 a.m

It certainly shouldn't have cost more than a stamp cruiser, and it did have a 1st class on it!
Have they started charging for those cards with the badges on? - It's definitely smaller than one of those, it's a tiny little pin badge, very sweet

I would never ignore one of those cards - years ago when we were moving from Swindon to Egham we received one of those cards, and it turned out to be the contract for the house The secretary had forgotten to frank the envelope - she apologised profusely when we told them, but if we hadn't gone to collect it our house move might have gone belly up

It all depends on the thickness of the envelope with the badge inside I think Di, if it exceeds 0.5cm then it's classed as a Large Letter and needs a more expensive stamp.
