Very sad ending to a lovely evening :(

Postby Kaz » 10 Nov 2013, 08:48

We had a lovely meal out last night for Mick's birthday, at The Oakwood on the Tewkesbury Road, then we followed Mick's mum home in our car to have a nightcap with her. A very sad sight met us in her living room - little Zoe, Mick's brother's westie, had had a fit and died :( My MIL was looking after her whilst my BIL and SIL went up to London to watch our nephew take part in the Remembrance ceremony at the Cenotaph, as part of his HMS duties. Zoe was very old, almost 15, and had been a little poorly recently but what a shock :( :( :(

Mick and Doreen cleaned her up, wrapped her in towels and we put her in her bed in the conservatory, up on the table :(

Harry and Becks were very shocked at the sight, but very brave and calm so I was proud of them. My MIL was a Macmillan nurse so used to performing last offices for people, but never for a little dog.........

I made us all a strong cuppa, D rang the inlaws to let them know - they were awfully upset as you can imagine - then when we were sure D was ok we came home.......

Such a sad and upsetting end to a lovely day......RIP little Zoe xxxxxxxx

Oh Kaz how sad. :( :(

The only thing I can say is that Zoe was a very much loved little dog that gave alot of happiness to others and, although terribly sad, lived to a decent age.

Hugs to all that loved Zoe. xxxxx

Thanks Ally - she really did have a wonderful life! She was D's dog to start with, well to be more accurate she was Mick's dad's pup but when he died Mick's brother and his family took her to be a friend for their two little boys......She had an amazing life, living by the sea, playing with the boys, long walks every day. They loved and spoiled her a lot, we all called her Princess Zoe and joked she must have had a pea under the pile of dog pad mattresses in her little basket, like in the fairy tale :) She was a real little lady compared to our two rough and tumble monsters :D

It was sad, and a shock, but she's at peace now. I feel very sorry for J my SIL, Zoe really was her baby, especially since the boys have grown up.....

Yes Di, that was another sadness, the link to M's dad :(

Shell I felt sorry for Mick, not a nice end to his birthday for him :(

Thanks all for the kind words and hugs, I've spoken to D this morning and she sounded a bit shaky still. I told her to ring me this afternoon if she needs some company - I'm only a ten minute or so walk away.......I'll ring her again tonight anyway.
