Do you listen to the radio much?

Postby debih » 16 Aug 2013, 10:15

I love the radio and have it on in the background most of the time now.

I tend to listen to Radio 2 during the day although I do often have to turn it off when Jeremy Vine comes on as I end up shouting at the radio.

I also use iplayer to listen to lots of dramas and things on Radio 4. I tend to listen to Womans Hour, Book of the Week, Play of the day/week, The News Quiz, The Archers, Gardeners Question Time and Kitchen Confidential. I download quite a few of them as podcasts and listen to them at night.

I also download Simon Mayo's confessions and Chris Evans breakfast show (best bits) on a weekly basis.

I never listen to local radio as it drives me insane. The only time I might turn it on is in the winter for the local weather reports and school closures.

I used to listen to radio a lot more when we were working, enjoying the Irish radio station's morning programmes with my favourite broadcasters. But Mr. Osc tends to put on a music station while we are having breakfast now, so I don't listen as much to what were my regulars. In the car on my own, I would like talk radio in the mornings and a local country/easy listening station in the afternoon.

The Archers, Just a Minute, I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, The News Quiz are all favourites.....Big Radio 4 fans in our house :D

We like Magic FM (oldies from the 60s, 70s, 80s mainly) in the car if we are close enough to London to pick it up - we lose it as soon as we climb the hill on the M4 just before Swindon

The local BBC stations here in the West ie BBC Gloucestershire (whose office and studios I walk past every time I walk into town) or BBC Oxfordshire tend to be a bit 'rural'...........They used to have a phone in comp every Saturday called Tool of the Week where you had to identify the farm tool or power tool by the noise it made - not really 'me' :-P

Mrs O tends to listen to Radio 4 and a classical music channel at times when in the kitchen or in the evening if there's now't on telly, but I haven't listened to the radio for years. We don't have it on in the car as we find it's too distracting.

R4 till about mid-morning then if I want some music I switch to Smooth Radio as is has a good selection of old and new. I can't bide the "smugness" of R2, it really puts me off.

Apart from the TV first thing for a bit of Breakfast and catch up with the news, I have the radio on all day.
Some of the local station is quite good, some of the presenters dive me mad so then I switch to radio 2 or 4, depending on what's on. Weekends sometimes R3.
I often forget to tune in to R4 when there's something I want to listen to, which is annoying :)
We often have the radio in the evenings too, again depends what's on - Sundays for instance I can't stand R2.

Oh and of course R5 live extra when there's cricket :D

In the car Bb switches about; the local one is extremely good on traffic reports and of course he always needs those.

I usually have it on during the day if I'm tatting about in the kitchen, I listen to the local BBC station so it's more phone-ins and news than music. I used to love to listen to Chris Evans at Drivetime but cannot stand Simon Mayo.

Yes but only Radio 2, and usually only Ken Bruce, although at work it's on in the background all day so I hear all the DJs shows. I like Pick of the Pops with Tony B on a Saturday pm and Johnny Walker's 70s show on Sunday pms, but don't listen to them every week.

I don't like the local stations mainly because of the constant ads, and they play the same songs all day  I don't listen to plays or soaps either :D
