Suki...I love you!!!!!!

Postby Ally » 03 Jul 2013, 09:54

I've been living in Spain too long...the manana effect has taken over!

When in town this morning I popped into the library to use a computer to print off my boarding pass for today's flight.
(Don's been yipping at me to do this before now..yeah yeah  )

Except...the computers were down. :o

On being told I could wait 40 minutes to see if they started again..even me in my far too laid back manner..realised this might be cuttings things just a tad fine!

What to do? :?

Craig doesn't have a printer..they're buying one this weekend when Leilani returns from Cape Town.

No internet cafes in the town centre that I could see.

Decided to jump in a cab back to Craig's to have a think. (What the hell that would have achieved I do not know!)

Anyway..I told the cab driver Suki my plight.
No problem madam, he says. :D

He took me to an internet cafe on the outskirts of town, came in with me, sat beside and chatted away as I got on with the necessaries.

20 pence for my boarding pass and off we go back in the cab to Craig's.

And the little sweetheart only wanted a fiver for the original journey that it would've cost from town.

I gave him a tenner..and he's coming back for me at 1pm to take me to the airport. :D :D

:kick: :kick: :kick: :kick: :kick: Suki..you are a STAR!!!!!

Oh how wonderful! I love it when people do such nice things.

Something similar happened to me on Sunday night. I was returning from the Michael Bublé concert at the O2 and had taken the train to Wandsworth Town, we then had to walk across Wandsworth bridge but it had turned chilly and we didn't have coats. We were passing the bus stop just as a bus was approaching so we jumped on it..........as we were just crossing the bridge, the driver told us to go and sit down and didn't take our fare. :D :D :D

Oh nice one Suki :D :D 8-) Blimey Ally that was a skin of the teeth job - safe flight home hun :D xxx

Molly that was kind of him :D

Mick had a similar very kind cab driver in Holland when he went out there to do a job for Phillips in Eindhoven - Ryan Air were insisting his return flight was delayed or cancelled over the phone, but the cab driver he'd used earlier came back to the hotel to tell him otherwise (he'd just been at the airport) and got Mick to his flight. He got a very good tip, which he actually didn't want to take! Such a nice guy - and it's a shame we donlt hear more of the good stories as I still think the good people far outweight the bad 8-)

Many times over the past 2 weeks when I've gone a-wandering..and got a bit lost..every single person I have asked for directions has been politeness and kindness personified. :D

I even had one old biddy in Glasgow offer to walk part of the way with me..bless him. :D :D

Even this morning trying to find the library a young lady was very helpful with her directions. :D

There are nice people out there aren't there.

I stumbled across one on Monday. I rang the pet insurance people again and got someone called Matt. He told me that two cheques had been issued on Friday and should be on their way to me. I rang the vet to check the amount which was different to what he had said so I rang him back. He was busy so I got someone called Dawn who told me that she didn't know why I had been told that as no cheques had been issued!

I told her that I felt that every time I rang whoever answered the phone looked at the notes on the file, decided that it was too complicated so fobbed me off with something and then when I rang back two weeks later I was told that no, I shouldn't have been told that. I said I was almost at breaking point as this had been going on since February.

She said that she would look at the notes on my file and ring me back. Which she did, 10 minutes later. She said she was shocked that nothing had yet been sorted out so she was going to go through to the assessors and speak to them. She rang me back again to say that the assessors hadn't even had my case passed onto them (grrrr - this should have happened in March) so she had put it on their desk. She then rang me back a couple of hours later to say that they were releasing the cheque - when I said it didn't tally with the vets invoice she said she would ring the vet and ring me back.

She rang back yesterday - the cheque will be in the post this week. The amount didn't tally as the vet hadn't claimed from 1st March onwards so a new claim form would be in the post today.

She also explained that she didn't usually answer the phones and had just been helping out during the lunch hour but if I wanted any more information I was to ring and ask for her.

So after god knows how many calls over 4 months one woman has at last got things moving for me!
