A trifle peeved

Postby tonicha » 26 May 2013, 11:48

I really am - maybe more than a trifle peeved

Went to the car boot, loaded down with books for the childrens home charity stall, plus a few other bits for them, hoping to find more cheapo books for me too ;)

They've shut it down  :o  for the foreseeable future

Why?

They're going to build a 35 bedroomed hotel in the grounds.

Speaking to a friend who lives locally, he knew about the plans for the hotel, but had no idea that the car boot was cancelled.

And looking at the amount of cars turning round, even the short time we were there, no-one else did too.

So I know have 4 carrier bags of books to get rid of - somewhere

Not a happy bunny

And to cap it all. Bente left the fridge full of goodies for us as usual :D

Half a very squishy melon, a large (used) tub of yoghurt, a very squishy avocado, one almost black tomato and a very small piece of cucumber  Oh and a carton of milk - to be used by yesterday

It is  because I could get books for 35 cents.

Normally, the car boots want at least a euro - which I won't pay unless they're either hardbacks or in good nick.

I certainly won't buy a rather tatty, dog-eared book, about 10 years old, for 3 euros

Well you could do as we did and build a library..... We have around 2,000 books now and I also have a Kindle... But I also like a book in my hands. However with my eyesight failing as fast as it is, a kindle is easier than finding my glasses I use only for reading books.

This Room Saundra, it was built specifically as a library and we're working out how to get more books in it. It also has about 750 DVD's in it.
