Postby lissie » 17 May 2013, 15:31

We have got local new potatoes, fresh asparagus (picked from the field as i waited)
with chicken kebabs with a greek dressing on them (made by the local butcher)
I am looking forward to it.
Strawberries and icecream to follow.

lissie :D (the butcher said it was a greek passion dressing guaranteed to get him in the mood so
i said it would take more than that at our age     )

Lissie that sounds gorgeous :)
We're having some hot & spicy chicken wings (Waitrose bargain), homemade wedges, coleslaw and salad. Will also be cooking a couple of chicken legs in case the wings are too hot for youngest :)

I made meatballs and we had those with oven chips and mushrooms.
Joe's not had his yet as he's out playing but he's placed his order for tomato soup.

I made a pie - pretty much completely from left overs - and it was lovely!

I had some left over chicken and some left over ham hock (both already cooked) in the freezer from ages ago along with just over half a pack of rough puff pastry.

I fried an onion with some mushrooms and thyme, added 2 tbsp flour and some chicken stock (left over from the freezer again) and some milk, added the cooked ham and chicken and simmered it for half an hour. Put it in my lovely new, bright orange pie dish and left it to cool. Then I rolled out the left over pastry, put a strip around the edge of the pie dish, put a pastry lid on, brushed it with egg and baked it for half an hour.

We had it with mashed potatoes, carrots and beans.

It was delish!

Oh and we washed it all down with a chocolate fondue (made from the last of the girls Easter eggs) with strawberries, pineapple and marshmallows.
